Jeff Woltz: Head Coach/Throwing Coach [email protected]
Coach Woltz attended Bloom Carroll High School in Carroll, Ohio where he was a two time regional qualifier in the shot put and discus. He graduated from Capital University in 2002 with a K-12 Health and Physical Education Teaching Degree and started as a track coach while Student Teaching at Franklin Heights High School in Columbus, OH. In 2006 he attended the University of Cincinnati and received him Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and obtained his principal license. Coach Woltz coached track at Mt. Healthy from 2004-2006 and Oak Hills from 2007-2008. He has been a track coach at Colerain for three years and has had the title of Head Coach for four years. He is also a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Colerain High School and an offensive line coach for the football team. Coach Woltz resides in the district with his wife Amy and their three daughters Abby, Emmaline, and Delaney.
Mark Bierkan: Head Running Coach [email protected]
Mark graduated from Colerain High School in 2003, and is an alumnus of the Cross Country and Track programs. His cross country team in the fall of 2001 was six points from qualifying for the state meet, finishing 5th in the region (the team's highest finish since 1978). In addition, he broke the school record in the 800m in track (a record that still stands today), finishing 10th in the state meet his senior year. After graduating, Mark attended and ran for Ohio Northern University, where he helped lead the team to qualifying for its first D3 National Championship (in Cross Country). Over his career, he broke four school records, qualified to Nationals 3 times, and was an academic All-American. Mark has been teaching at Colerain High School since 2007, where he teaches a variety of math courses, including AP Statistics. He has been the head running coach since 2009, after two years of being an assistant and working with the White Oak Middle School program. Mark currently resides in the district with his wife Meggie Bierkan and future Coach "baby" Bierkan.
Terry Kiger: Jumps and Sprints
Terry graduated from Maumee High School in 1974 and attended Ohio University (aka the Harvard On The Hocking) earning a degree in Physical Education and Health. After graduating from Ohio University, he accepted a teaching position at Mt. Healthy High School where he has taught for the past 34 years and was head track and field coach for 29 years. All three of his children attended Colerian High School. His oldest, Kristin, was on the 2000 state championship cross country team, earning Academic All-Ohio Honors. In his 32 years of coaching, Terry has had the privilege of coaching an All-American, a State Champion, and numerous state meet placers and qualifiers. He also watched and coached while Coach Bierkan, Coach Winters, and Coach Detzel's daughters competed at Colerain High School and had the opportunity to be on the coaching staff at Colerian while Coach McDonough was an athlete, as well as having Coach Woltz as an assistant at Mt. Health High School.
Stacey Tepe: Hurdles and Sprints
Stacey is from Southern California, where she graduated from high school. She attended college in Colorado, and has a background in Exercise Physiology and coaching. She competed in cross country, volleyball, soccer, and track and field in high school, and has been an avid runner all of her life. You can usually find her running around Colerain township, and she still runs in local 5k races. Stacey is also the Assistant Swim Coach at Colerain High School and coaches diving as well. She is also an assistant coach for the Clippard YMCA swim team. Stacey and her husband Chris have four children; two have graduated from Colerain , Kayley is a senior, and Kerry a freshman at Colerain High School. They are involved in a variety of activities.
Jim Detzel: Distance, Motivation, and Safety
Jim graduated from Northwest High School in 1978, where he was a varsity basketball and track athlete. After graduating high school, Jim started Detzel Insurance, the company that he still owns and operates today. Since 2008, he has been a member of the Northwest Local School District Board of Education. He has been a member of the coaching staff for cross country and track for ten years, and has seen two of his daughters graduate through the track program, one of which (Brittany) still holds the record in the 800m run and was a member of the record-setting 4x400m relay team.
Craig White: Mid-Distance and Distance
Craig graduated from Colerain High School in 2011, and is an alumnus of the cross country and track programs. He was a 4 year varsity letterman in cross country and 3 year letterman in track. He ran on the 2010 varsity team that finished 9th in the region, the team’s best finish since 2002. Craig is currently attending the University of Cincinnati working on his degree in finance. This is his second year coaching Track.
Lisa Klotz: Sprints and Throws
Coach Klotz graduated from Colerain High School in 2005, and is an alumnus of the Basketball and Track programs. She was a six-time all-city selection in track and finished fourth in state in shot put as a junior; she also placed third in state in shot and ninth in discus as a senior. Coach Klotz left Colerain with both the shot put record at 43ft.3in and the discus record at 127ft. 6in. Coach Klotz earned four letters in track and field and three in basketball. After graduating, Lisa attended and competed for University of Cincinnati where she studied Criminal Justice (with a focus on Juvenile Behavior) and a minor in Sign Language. Lisa had several top finishes in the Big East in the Shot Put, Discus, Javelin and Hammer Throw with her best finish her senior year in 9th place in Shot Put in the Big East Conference Meet. Coach Klotz works with troubled teens at a behavioral school, and has been coaching with Colerain since 2012 with Sprints and Throws. Coach Klotz also coaches
